Yassss! It’s Wednesday, I’m so excited. It’s another day to profile one of our celebs, share a few things we could learn from them & why we love them. Yassss! It’s the second edition of our “celebrity crush Wednesday”. drumstick
So this week, our celebrity crush Wednesday is none other than Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi, the first winner of Nokia-Mnet face of Africa.
She is a Nigerian supermodel, TV personality, and entrepreneur. Born on the 1st of August, 1980 in Lagos Nigeria. She’s married to Luca Orlandi & they are blessed with two kids.
She is known for exposing the world to Africa as a source for supermodels, a graduate of Newyork University with a degree in management.
As a teenager, she struggled with body image & being underweight but was encouraged by a friend in 1998 to enter for the Nokia/Mnet face of Africa which she won with a prize of $150,000 three year modeling contract with elite modeling management.
She subsequently moved to Newyork & her modeling career skyrocketed. She’s walked runways in Paris, Milan & Newyork, she’s worked with top names in fashion; Kenneth Cole, Tom Hilfigher, Gucci, Christian Dior, Chanel, etc. she’s also done magazine covers for several magazines including Vogue, cover girl, etc. In 2002, she became a member of the elite Victoria’s Secret angels.
She’s paved way for the next generation aspiring African models & here are the five reasons why we love Oluchi…
- She does Charity work in Africa with LEAP Africa & NIPRO. She’s lent her image to their campaigns free of charge.
She is giving back to her continent by establishing a modeling agency which paves way for models & aspiring models.
Even though she struggled with being “too lean” & self-sham, she built up courage to contest in the first edition of that competition which she eventually won. This means, your lowest point could be your turning point.
Hardwork indeed pays off which she’s proved by amassing over $2.5 million net worth last reviewed in 2010.
Despite winning a huge competition & becoming a superstar, she however went further to acquire a degree in leadership/management.
She’s beauty & brains and she’s a superstar. These are a few reasons why we love Oluchi.
